The MSC SCONA 100
by Cameron Marbach ‘21
The MSC Student Conference on National Affairs provides programs for students across Texas, the nation, and the world to exchange ideas and discuss the role of the United States in the global community. The MSC SCONA committee makes all preparations for the annual conference and other small programs leading to the conference. The organization is composed of collegiate students from a diverse array of experiences. Together they work to develop the program, invite the speakers, raise funds for the conference and recruit delegates. This allows their members to develop or refine a new skill set as they prepare to enter their future careers.
One of the main ways MSC SCONA develops its members as well as the conference is through their development program, the SCONA 100. SCONA 100 Club Members pledge to give $1,000 annually for three years. Half of each donation is put towards the conference operating budget and the other half is placed in the SCONA endowment, ensuring the continued success of future conferences. The committee greatly appreciates the commitment SCONA 100 Club Members make and invites members to a special reception during the February conference and the annual banquet at the close of the conference. Honorees are also presented with a SCONA 100 lapel pin and recognized in our publishing materials throughout the year.
SCONA 100 Club Members support the importance of educating and advancing students towards being global leaders and well-rounded citizens. They ensure the values of integrity, excellence, and leadership are instilled into the conference delegates for generations. Investing in this conference encourages the education of future public servants.
