12 for 24
Every fall semester for over a decade, MSC Freshmen in Service and Hosting (FISH) has hosted FLO Bowl, a powder puff football competition featuring the freshman leadership organizations. Each FLO creates a female football team accompanied by an all-male cheerleading squad, all competing to be crowned FLO Bowl Champion. This event brings the freshmen of Texas A&M together while also raising funds for MSC FISH’s Kyle Field Day. Unfortunately, both of these events were canceled due to the pandemic. However, to meet their committee’s mission, MSC FISH created 12 for 24.
12 for 24 was a 12 hour virtual marathon featuring a different event every hour. The goal of the program was to spread awareness about various volunteer and service opportunities around the Bryan-College Station area by presenting different opportunities at the end of each hour. At the end of the 12 hours, more than 200 people participated in this one-of-a-kind virtual contest. Each was treated to a video highlighting the meaning of service and the winning group received $400 worth of prizes.
Despite the setbacks this pandemic has presented, MSC FISH has provided different ways for their freshmen to grow as leaders and as Aggies.
