14th Annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast
The annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast aims to honor the legacy of Dr. King and recognize his civil rights activism. Led by the MSC Carter G. Woodson Black Awareness Committee, the event also inspires the future leaders of tomorrow as well as educates the Aggie community on the Civil Rights Movement, current civil equality issues, and Dr. King’s approach to combating social injustice.
The MLK Breakfast has been doing just that for the past 14 years and was able to once again continue their tradition of enlightenment virtually this past January. Featuring noted anti-racism activist Jane Elliot, the audience was challenged to think beyond what they know and asked to consider what they could learn.
Elliot told attendees, “There’s no such thing as race except the human race and we all belong [to that].” The MLK Breakfast has become the signature event for MSC WBAC, making it an event the entire campus and community can look forward to attending. This event will definitely be one everyone in attendance will remember.
