Stark NE Tour Moved From January to Spring Break of 2022
Nineteen students participated in the 2022 J. Wayne Stark NE tour which occurred over spring break. These students were initially scheduled to travel prior to school starting in January, but because of the omicron variant of the COVID virus, the tour shifted.
This program is geared for promising students to explore prestigious business and law schools by visiting admission staff and current students, several of which were Aggies. The group visited five cities and seven schools in 10 days. These institutions included University of Chicago, Northwestern, Harvard, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, New York University and Columbia.
This program gives our students a glimpse of the cities we visit and shows them they can compete and succeed in schools of this caliber. We also have dinners and receptions in the cities we visit, meeting with former students who can give better insight into what living in these cities is actually like. The evening we were in Boston, Dr. Lynda Schubert and Miguel Abugattas ‘09 hosted an event at the Harvard Club. The featured speaker was Mr. Steve Horn ’76 who has supported this program for years. Our NYC reception has been in collaboration with the Aggies on Wall Street Program, part of the Finance program in the Mays Business School. Mr. Brent (B.R.) Adams ’89 and Michael Watson ‘97 hosted the event with approximately
50 NYC Aggies.
In contrast to our 2021 virtual program, this was a great success that all who participated found truly enriched. We would like to extend a special thanks goes to Mr. Jon Hagler ’58 and Mr. Ray Rothrock ’77 who have endowed this program and made it much easier for these promising students to attend.
